Our
Story

Middle school is one of the most influential seasons in a girl's life. Between the ages of 11 and 14, confidence often declines as girls navigate peer pressure, social media, anxiety, and questions about their identity. Research shows that girls' confidence can drop significantly during these years, making it a critical time for support and positive role models.

That's why IamHER was created.

Founded in 2010 as G.O.S.S.I.P. Girls (Genuine, Optimistic, Strong, Sophisticated, Intelligent Princess), our mission began with creating a safe space where girls could be heard, supported, and empowered. As our impact grew, so did our vision.

In 2021, we became IamHER—a name that reflects confidence, resilience, leadership, and purpose.

Today, we partner with schools and communities to equip middle school girls with the tools they need to thrive through leadership development, social-emotional learning, financial literacy, technology, and hands-on experiences.

At IamHER, we're not just helping girls overcome challenges—we're helping them discover who they are and confidently say, "IamHER.

Founder & Executive Diretor

Ashley Spriggs

Ashley Spriggs is a Fort Worth native, youth development leader, and founder of IamHER, with more than 15 years of experience empowering young people to discover their confidence, purpose, and potential. Raised by her grandparents, William and Edna Turner, whom she proudly calls Mom and Dad, Ashley learned early the importance of faith, resilience, and serving others.

Her passion for youth development began at just 13 years old while volunteering in her children's church, where she discovered the life-changing impact of encouraging young people and helping them believe in themselves.

A lifelong learner committed to personal and professional growth, Ashley has pursued advanced leadership and nonprofit education while gaining invaluable experience through years of serving youth and building community partnerships. In 2013, she founded G.O.S.S.I.P. Girls, and in 2021, she boldly rebranded the organization as IamHER—a nonprofit dedicated to empowering middle school girls through leadership development, social-emotional learning, and life skills.

Ashley believes that everyone is a unique piece of the puzzle called life. Her mission is to ensure every girl feels seen, heard, and valued, while equipping her with the confidence and tools to lead, thrive, and create meaningful change in her own life and community.
